Is Abul-A'la al-Maududi considered to be from the Imaams of the Muslims?
Answer:
What is clear is that he has some tashayyu' (#Shiaism) in him and that he is to be considered as being from the Imaams of Innovation. May Allaah reward one of our brothers with good for he has authored a book called:
"Hurricanes in the Face of the Sunnah" (Zawaabi' fee Wajhis-Sunnah).
In this book, he clarifies and exposes the true condition of Abul-A'la Al-Maududi and those like him who wage war against the Sunnah of Allaah's Messenger (sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) and who weaken authentic ahaadeeth in the two Saheeh collections (of Bukhaaree and Muslim) to suit their desires.

From the below answer one can see how Mawdoodee went on to make Ta'weel and regarded Dajjaal to be just a fithnah!
Secondly, he shamelessly went on to make baseless allegations upon the Messenger of Allaah Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.

In such type of matters if any statement of the Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam is based on his #Qiyaas, his suspicion based on approximation does not happen in conformity then this does not stain the Prophethood. Therefore if this man builds his orientation upon this thinking and ideology of those groups affiliated with, and derived from the likes of the Islaamic Group of Pakistan(Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan), at whose head was al-Mawdoodee; the Muslim Brotherhood group of Egypt , and Hamaas of Palestine, (then know) that all of these groups have a specific ideology for themselves."

The late Muftee of Jeezaan, Allamah Ahmad an-Najmee rahimahullah was asked, "O Shaikh, when we see callers (du'aat) in this land, praising (Sayid) Qutb and Mawdudi, and they sit with the Haraakiyyeen and the Hizbiyyeen and they revile the Salafees, is it permissible for us to warn against them?"
The Shaikh replied, "Yes, it is permissible for you to warn against them. The one who, the one who...the one who sits with the Haraakiyyeen and supports them and sits with them and reviles the Salafees, then this contains an evidence for his bid'ah."

Sheikh #Zaid al-Madkhalee hafidhahullah said in his book 'Al-Irhaab wa Aathaaruhu fil-Afraad wal-Mujtami'ah' [Terrorism and its Effects on Individuals and Societies] p.134,
"One of the reasons why I say that it is forbidden to sell Abul-A'la al-Mawdoodee's books are his words:

On the same page, Sheikh Zaid further wrote,

'A'idh al-Qarnee says: 'My soul is sacrificed for you, Abul-'Ala (i.e. Mawdoodee)'." #AidhQarnee








Abul Ala Maududi was the founder of the sect called Jamat-e-Islami, he wrote much about society, economy, and politics.

He promoted un-Islamic revolutionary modes of thought which led him to have a distorted view of Islam as being primarily a political system, overlooking basic Islamic fundamentals such as tawhid (monotheism) and Manhaj (Methodology).

He further spoke in an exaggerated manner concerning the aspect of rulership in Islam. Speaking about desiring authority in the land,

1. Maududi said, “So without the desire for authority, there is no meaning for calling to a particular philosophy, and there is no meaning for what is lawful and what is forbidden, nor for the prescribed laws.” refer : Tajdeedud-deen, p32-33

–>> Our Response :: though the Prophet of Islam (sallallaahu `alayhe wa sallam) clearly forbade desiring positions of authority, because craving after authority corrupts absolutely. He (sallallaahu `alayhe wa sallam) said, “Do not ask for leadership, since if you are given it having requested it, then you will be left alone to discharge it, but if you are given it without requesting it, you will be helped (by Allaah) in it.” refer : Sahih Muslim 4692

2. Maududi even went a step further by claiming that the principal goal of all of the Prophets was to establish a state : “Therefore the goal aspired for in the messengership of the Prophets in this world did not cease to be the establishment of the Islamic government upon the earth.” refer : Tajdeedud-deen, p 34.

–>> Our Response :: Although Islam considers this to be an important matter, but it does not consider this to be the principal goal. Hence, it is a great error to overlook the true call of the Prophets (i.e. tawhid) while making the false claim that the principle goal which they aspired for was to establish an Islamic state. Maududi used to base his conclusions upon intellectual and political analogies and deductions as opposed to returning to the textual sources of the religion understood by the early Muslims as a source of guidance.

3. Regarding the Sceince of Hadees :: Maududi’s view on ahadith was also not clear as he said “ahadith were transmitted by few men to few men, and the maximum on can get from them is only hope of authenticity and not knowledge of certitude” refer : tarjuman al-Quran rabee ul awal 1365,

–>> Our Respone :: this statement Maududi oppose the stand of Ahlus-Sunnah as Ahlus-Sunnah holds with certantity that Sahih Hadith leads to certitude and specially those having talaqi bil qabool, meanings that they have been accepted by the community without any objection

2. Shaykh Allahama Rabee’s Ibne Haadi Al Madkhali closing comments in his book ‘The Methodology of the the Prophets’ regarding Maududi

At the end of the book authored over 15 years ago, “The methodology of the Prophets in Calling to Allah that is the way of wisdom and intelligence“, authored by the noble Shaykh, The Imam, Al-Allaamah Rabee ibn Haadee Al-Madhkalee – and none belittles him nor mocks him except a foolish ignoramous, person of bid’ah, he said:

“Then finally, the points of criticism of Al-Maududi and his likes are so many that this introduction is not the place for them. But in summary, he is one furthest from abiding by the Sovereignty of Allah with regards to his Aqeedah and his Fiqh, and with regards to his stance on the Sunnah of the the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and his stance with regards to the companions of the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and with regards to their enemies the ” RAFIDEES Shee’ah.. “

Indeed he and his followers have alliance and friendship with those Raafidees, they support them and they praise their Taaghoot, Al-Khomeini and his students, the Ayaatur-Raafidiyyah.

So noble reader be aware of this and judge the people according to the truth and do not judge the truth according to its people and beware of falling into the abyss of over-exaggerated respect for personalities so that it leads you to reject the truth and to argue with its people.

May Allah guide and grant the ummah to loving the truth and its people. Indeed my Lord hears and responds to supplications”

Shaykh Hammaad al-Ansaaree’s (rahimahullah) narrated an incident which happened between him and Maududi, Shayak (rahimahullah) said “I visited Maududi along with some brothers during the course of his stay in Riyadh and he was in the hotel ‘bat-haa’ so we entered upon him and he was praying the ‘Asr prayer, so I began observing his prayer. So when he finished I said to him : ‘This prayer of yours needs reviewing, for you do not raise your hands, nor do you relax (be at ease) and other than that’ So he said : ‘I am Hanafee in Madhhab’. So I said to him : ‘this is more overwhelming than the first; since it is impermissible for you to say that, and you are above such a statement. We had come to think from your writings that you are a free-thinker [See the book; The Methodology of the Prophets in calling to Allaah by Shayak Rabee’ bin Haadee page : 157 onwards for detail of this.], but it has become apparent to us that you are a constricted thinker.’ Then I said to him : ‘indeed Imaam Abu Haneefah is the one that you blindly follow; yet who are the ones that Imaam Abu Haneefah blindly followed?’ He remained silent, and Allaah’s Aid is sought.
